The pharmaceutical industry has been using precision fermentation to produce human insulin and treat diabetes for nearly 50 years. Today microorganisms can also be programmed to produce a range of other proteins such as those found in milk and eggs.
Our portfolio companies use precision fermentation to substitute conventional eggs in high-volume processes such as industrial baking. As well as reducing environmental impact by 90%, it’s more efficient and cost-effectiveand creates local jobs.
